Qualifications and teaching
Dale studied privately with Alan Dean for three years before completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of New South Wales majoring in Music (Voice) and English Literature; her minor subjects were Theatre, Film and Television. She has a Certificate IV in Adult Assessment and Workplace Training. In 2008 Dale completed a Graduate Diploma in Musical Studies (Pedagogy, Voice – Contemporary) at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, studying under Adele Nisbet and Irene Bartlett. She has also studied at University of Queensland post graduate choral conducting and enjoys choral work. She has developed a large private singing studio where she teaches a wide variety of students, from beginners to professionals, from teenagers to mature adults. Dale is a full member of ANATS (Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing). She frequently conducts lecture series for larger singing groups. Dale has also worked as a private vocal coach at Genesis Christian College, before leaving this position in order to further her studies. Dale was awarded a full internship to the ANATS Musical Theatre seminar in Ballarat in September 2007, and in December 2007 she received the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence. She spent 2008 on the teaching staff for the Young Conservatorium contemporary voice program. In March 2009 Dale was priveledged to attend and participate in Neil Semer’s Vocal Institute in Brisbane, and continued her passion for singing with more private tuition with Neil in March 2010. In 2011 Dale completed her Masters of Music Studies with a Voice Pedagogy specialisation at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. Dale teaches all contemporary genres, including jazz, pop, rock, country, and all music theatre styles.
Performance
Dale began performing onstage at the age of 8. She attended acting school (Central Coast Theatre Academy) and continued to perform in many musicals throughout her school years. She was a lead vocalist in Ranjazz 2 and performed as a soloist in the 1988 School’s Spectacular. Dale has appeared in Pirates of Penzance (Isobel), Snoopy: The Musical (Sally Brown), Boy’s Own MacBeth (Morrie McBeth), West Side Story (Rosalia), South Pacific, Bye Bye Birdie, to name just a few shows, as well as many revues and fundraising concerts. Dale was a regular performer in the Hyatt Piano Bar in Sydney following her graduation from the University of New South Wales.
After having her two children, Dale began singing on the worship team of Christian City Bridgeman Downs (1999 – 2008). During this time she was a worship leader, backing vocalist, and choir director. She was also Creative Arts Director for 2005 – 2007, writing, producing and directing Christmas and Easter productions.
Dale’s studies at the Conservatorium included performance practice, and she is pleased to be performing again following a hiatus whilst her concluding her Masters. Performances in 2011 included Carols By Candlelight, private concerts and even a family wedding. Dale is regularly recording and looking forward to embarking on a long awaited recording project.
